In this Special Commentary, Julie includes the 30 minute disclosure interview with Edward Dowd regarding insurance data and adds some additional commentary after it.
Edward Dowd started his career at HSBC as an institutional fixed income bond salesman. He learned about the capital markets, bonds, currencies and how capital moves around the globe. He went back to Business School at Indiana University wanting to get into equity portfolio management. After graduating he became a Research Associate in Electric Utilities at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette. This parlayed him into a job in Boston as a technology analyst on the ‘buy’ side, which is managing people’s money. He diagnosed the dot com boom in the early 2000’s which opened the door for him to a 10 year career with BlackRock Portfolio Management job where he picked stocks and analyzed companies. He was able to take the initial assets under management from $2 billion to $14 billion.
