We don’t look at things straight on. We look at them sideways and ask why they exist.
We don’t go to the base, infantile easy spaces in our brain and we don’t simply react to something we read or hear. And we don’t allow others to put words in our mouth.
Let’s take the book “Doppelgänger” for instance: Klein’s bitter hateful attack against Naomi Wolf was published after over two years of a feverish obsession with a woman who had no idea she was being psychically stalked. We’ve never read the book but we don’t have to.
We know why it exists.
It was a call to action for the American domestic population to pick a side. Rather than appealing to the sentiment that we should all come together to fight a common cause, Klein drew the line and demanded people cross it. The book was divisive and calcified that divisiveness. We may not recover.
It was a last gasp of breath for a woman so wrapped in bitterness that she succumbed to her darkest parts of her nature, collapsing in a pathos only Freud himself could diagnose.
The most chilling take-away from why the book exists in the first place is to target Wolf. This was a rallying cry to come with pitchforks and torches to traumatize, attack and even take the life of Naomi Wolf. This book is the trial balloon for this call-to-action. It was the signal, the alarm, the first shot fired.
“This is war, soldiers. Grab your Democracy Now sound bytes, your pedigrees, your smug indifference to facts you will claim as false, and chop the head off the traitor in our midst. Her disloyalty cannot go unpunished.”
This blinded-by-rage to divergence from group think writ-large is more than just doctors losing their licenses or being smeared in New York Times articles because they question efficacy of medical interventions; this is more than popular podcasters or influencers being branded as something criminal and losing their monetizing options on their channels; this is more than just a career blowing up because of something that was said.
This is about unleashing the Zombified Influenced in our midst who will do everything they can to follow their influencer’s rage to the very doorsteps of people like Naomi Wolf. They are passionately appealed to, to come to the aid and protection of their beloved influencer. The influenced are being used, weaponized and set up for destruction by the influencer.
Naomi Klein should be punished for what she’s done. Her book should be published, not simply because Free Speech does exist, but it should act as a testament to the dangers of allowing hatred and bitterness to lapse into something straight out of Atwood’s Handmaid’s Tale. She should be psychologically evaluated. She should be accused of crimes of inciting violence against another person.
How is Naomi Klein’s work inciting violence against Wolf or anyone who thinks outside of corporate narratives any different from Georges Henri Yvon Joseph Ruggiu the Belgian radio presenter who worked for Rwandan radio station Radio Télévision Libre des Mille Collines, and who played a significant role in promoting the genocide against the Tutsi?
If you’re not seeing this as the dangerous precedent it is, then you’re not fully paying attention.
