It looks like Oscar hit the reset button and traveled back in time, attempting to re-imagine the early days of the award ceremony with soft lighting, intimate tables and simple decor.
With very little notice, if any, that the event was taking place, it looked hastily put together and after watching a few YouTube videos on replay, it seemed empty and hollow. I suppose it’s always been an empty hollow event but I digress.
Here are a few photos I snapped from an ABC replay.
None of the attendees wore masks.
My instinct tells me this is what life will be like from now on: a group of privileged, wealthy sequestered people at private events in a controlled space in a pre-recorded controlled environment. We will be allowed to see perfectly curated versions of these so-called “events for the masses” but this feels classist and exclusionary.
These are the goals in the Great Reset and in this case with Oscar’s own reset, this was a shabby patched up presentation of an attempt to capture the Golden Days of Hollywood.
Pass.
