In a Sunday, May 9, 2021 kitchen table audio discussion on the artist’s Facebook community and art page, (interrupted due to algorithmic suppression), the artists believe the recent conflict with Norwegian Cruise Lines potentiality for suing Florida is part of the further establishment of global governance under the bureaucracy of Regional Interstate Compacts.
In the case of Florida, as indicated by this article, https://www.politico.com/states/florida/story/2020/04/21/southern-governors-create-a-covid-19-coalition-and-experts-fear-a-perfect-storm-1278753 , DeSantis is working with a coalition of Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee, Alabama and Mississippi. In the audio the artists refer to it as the “Southern Coalition”, but that is just the term they use to describe the southern states coalescing of public private partnerships.

The artists also hypothesize that the cruise line may be able to sue the state of Florida if their business is interrupted due to guidelines established in the TPP (Trans Pacific Partnership). The TPP was never ratified under the Trump Regime. It’s unclear if the TPP still stands, since it was signed during the Obama Regime, as the artists hypothesized in their audio which you can find here. In January 2017 Trump withdrew the signature. But, the new agreement called the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement, is most likely more of the same, if not worse than the original TPP.

What we are witnessing with the Norwegian Cruise Lines and Florida situation is an undermining of the Governor’s power by the Corporation (in this case a cruise line) whose bottom line may be affected by the Governor’s mandates or the State’s legislative practices. If this happens, and the cruise line stops doing business with the State of Florida, not only may they be able to sue under their protections outlined in the TPP, but that state’s revenue source may deplete significantly. If that’s the case, then Florida may have no choice than to shore up their state in the regional compact they are in, where their own legislative practices and state mandates may be undermined in the interest of its Regional Interstate Compact agreement, and as the artists have discussed over the last year this undermining is a result of capitulation to the region’s public private partnerships which do not serve citizen interests, but rather the interests of the committees that represent the states in that regional cluster. Committee interests include corporate shareholders, stakeholders, non profits, non governmental organizations and other government representatives that are placed in their government positions as a way to cement these outside interests that do not benefit the people.
The story of the Norwegian Cruise Line threatening to pull their business from Florida is one that we should watch carefully. If and when they do pull their business, we should watch to see how DeSantis responds to that. Or, will the Cruise Line change their business practices altogether and allow for their guests to go mask-free and waive the requirement for proof of vaccine (“vaccine passport”).

Thanks for covering this, this is one of the most important and inevitable developments of in the current shitstorm we are living through. I was protesting NAFTA and FTAA in the late 90s and early 00s and the writing was on the wall then, this is a landmark right here.
